Establish a Scholarship

There are currently two types of scholarships that can be established with the Lincoln-Sudbury Scholarship Fund; endowed and administered.  Following are the Fund's guidelines for each type:
Endowed Scholarships
  1. Endowed Scholarships require a minimum initial donation of $25,000.  The Fund currently makes a $2,000 annual scholarship payout per $25,000 in donations.  This is a guideline, however, and not a guarantee, as the Fund's ability to pay out is dependent on the performance of the Fund's investment portfolio.
  2. Representatives of the Fund will work with the donor to establish criteria for awarding the scholarship (examples of current criteria include interest in music, community service, etc.).
  3. Scholarships can be established as need-based or non need-based.  If the scholarship is need-based, the Fund currently uses the following formula to determine a student's eligibility:
    • 40% financial
    • 40% academic achievement
    • 20% community service, athletic and /or activities participation, or work experience
If not need-based, the Fund encourages the donor to work with representatives of the Fund to develop objective and fair criteria for awarding the scholarship.

Administered Scholarships

Guidelines for administered scholarships are very similar to those for endowed scholarships.  The main difference is the funding requirement.  For an administered scholarship, the Fund requires a minimum commitment of $1,000 per year for at least 5 years.
