These scholarships are awarded based on a formula of 40% academic achievement, 40% financial need and 20% activities, including community service and athletics, work history and any extenuating circumstances.

MLK ACTION PROJECT/HILARY SHEDD SOCIAL JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP Awarded to a senior whose community service is informed by Dr. Martin Luther King’s vision of a more just society. Recipient must have volunteered for MLK Action Project. HENRY M. MORGAN COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP Awarded to a METCO student who demonstrates commitment to community service. Applicants must submit a 2-3 page essay on his/her community service participation in addition to the general application. Essay due March 28. In addition to completing the general Lincoln-Sudbury Scholarship Fund application, please submit a 2-3 page essay describing your community service experience, focusing on how you feel the community benefited from your service, as well as how you benefited in return. Application due: Monday, March 19, 2012. Essay due: Wednesday, March 28, 2012. FRANK PIRRELLO, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP For a student pursuing a career in education, K-12. Applicants must write a 3-4 page essay in addition to the general application describing why they are choosing this profession when teaching does not seem as highly regarded as in the past. Recipient selected by family. The general application is due Monday, March 19, 2012 and the essay, which should be returned to the Superintendent’s Office, is due Wednesday, March 28, 2012.  Write an essay on the following topic: In a time when teaching does not seem as highly regarded as in the past, why are you choosing this profession and what do you think you can do to change this? The essay should be 3-4 pages long, double-spaced. Please check spelling and follow standard grammatical rules.
